Who am I? Fusion Bellydance Teacher in Helsinki

Hey there, gorgeous 💫

My name is Fanny Delesham, and I am a Fusion Bellydance teacher based in Helsinki. I have been dancing at least since 2004 — and honestly, probably long before that.

For me, dance has always been more than.. "just dance". It is clarity in a chaotic world. It is structure that can be learned and then gently broken. It is a way to relax, to recharge, and to express something that words cannot fully capture.

Today, I teach Fusion Bellydance and belly dance classes in Helsinki, and I also offer online bellydance classes for students who want to train from home.

My Background: From Oriental Dance to Fusion Bellydance

I started oriental dance (often known as belly dance) in 2004 when I was 10 years old and that is where we start this story. I trained in different traditional styles, including Saidi and Nubian dance, and I performed as much as I possibly could.

Performing quickly became my favorite part of dancing. Even in elementary school, I was teaching my classmates choreographies I had learned in class and performing them at school events. Dance was already something I wanted to share.

In 2017, I was introduced to tribal fusion — today more commonly called Fusion Bellydance. Coming from a strong oriental dance background, this new style felt both strange and exciting. Fusion Bellydance combines the technique of belly dance with influences from contemporary styles, urban movement, and powerful stage aesthetics.

I joined classes, started performing in a duo, and slowly found my artistic home in fusion.

Academic Path — and Choosing Dance

Alongside dance, I completed a Master of Science degree at university and received a significant grant from the Kone Foundation for doctoral research. I also worked in the environmental field and in NGOs. But dance never left.

In 2021, I applied for an internship at Helsinki Oriental while studying creative entrepreneurship. That decision brought me fully into studio life. I started teaching, co-organizing events, and deepening my work in Fusion Bellydance.

At the end of 2024, I made a major life decision and left my environmental career. In 2025, I launched my own classes under the name Dance Studio Fanny Delesham.

Today, I work as a Fusion Bellydance teacher in Helsinki, offering weekly classes, workshops, performances, and online belly dance classes.

Why I Teach Fusion Bellydance

I teach Fusion Bellydance because I want to share the joy and power I have discovered through dance. This style combines precision, creativity, and self-expression, offering a unique way to find your rhythm, strengthen your body, and build confidence.

Teaching also allows me to grow as a dancer and artist: every student brings new energy, inspiration, and perspective. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and inspiring space where everyone can explore their movement and express themselves at their own pace.

Fusion Bellydance is universal – it doesn’t require prior experience, age, or background. It gives everyone the chance to discover their own artistic path and enjoy the sheer joy of movement.
